This necklace accomplishes a difficult task. It is both understated and elegant while simultaneously being dramatic. It is one of those pieces that is difficult to convey through photos. The beads are delicate and ethereal. The drama comes with the length of it and this feature also allows it more versatility. You can wrap it to make a layered look, wear it long as one length, or you could put a larger pendant on this and turn up the drama.
I believe this was handmade by someone, and my best guess is that is was created somewhere around the 1950's or 60's based on the confirmed age of other pieces from the same estate.
The age of this gives it more character than anything similar you will find today. The beads have gained a patina over time and become more off white in appearance. There is something charming about this, similar to the look of paper as it ages and is no longer stark white. The beads are strung on a delicate yet durable darker colored thread that is secured very well at the connection point.
