Rare 1930s Dermay Fifth Avenue NY Black Amethyst Glass Vanity Dish - Art Deco Nude Nymph Pedestal - Hand-Painted Enamel - Tiffin for Dermay
Rare 1930s Dermay Fifth Avenue NY Black Amethyst Glass Vanity Dish - Art Deco Nude Nymph Pedestal - Hand-Painted Enamel - Tiffin for Dermay
A rare and sophisticated find for the Art Deco enthusiast. This Black Amethyst glass candy dish bears the coveted Dermay Fifth Avenue, New York maker’s mark on the base. Dermay was a premier 1930s boutique that commissioned exclusive vanity items from top-tier glass makers like Tiffin and L.E. Smith.
This piece features the iconic "Nude Lady" or "Dancing Nymph" pedestal stem. The glass appears a deep, opaque ebony but glows a rich violet-purple when held to the light—the hallmark of authentic black amethyst glass. The lid and base are adorned with delicate, hand-painted enamel floral sprays, typical of the high-end custom work Dermay provided for its New York clientele.
